Cardinal Comfort
Dad's Cardinal Message
My father passed away in 2013 after battling cancer for two years. He loved life and laughter. When he was suffering and so weak I asked him if it was really worth all of the sickness from treatment and was he afraid to die. His response was, "I want to be here as long as I can."

Because I lived over 8 hours away from his home and worked full time, I was not able to spend as much time with him as I would have wished. After his death I was feeling very sad about this. One day as I was walking on our local hiking trail, a cardinal flew by, landed right in front of me, and remained on the trail just turning his head from one side to the other. I have always
loved cardinals and so did my father, but I have never had one come that close. For me it was a sign from dad, "I am fine; don't worry, and don't be sad." That experience has brought me so much comfort.
