I took this picture today when I looked out front and there he was my red cardinal friend perched on top of my little bird feeder with the peace sign hanging from it....he was looking right at me.
I hadn't seen him in a very long time—maybe not since last winter....I really can't remember.

In any case, I went and grabbed my phone to get a shot of him. Funny how he just sat there like he was waiting for me to take the picture.
Then.....off He flew.
Of course I had to share the photo of him with the snow and all ...on FB...
A few hours later I go on FB and I'm delighted to see how some friends are enjoying the picture too... that always makes me happy!
I notice some sweet comments.
But, then as I read “They say a cardinal is symbolic of a loved one who has passed on and come to visit”
Well... when I read those words, I just broke down crying (in a good way)
I now had a realization. You know--this was my --- aha moment! When The light bulb turns on..!

I was putting some things together in my head...

I began to think back to when my dad had passed and how I felt the first time I saw a red cardinal at the house. I immediately thought of my dad. I didn't really know why the red cardinal out my window made this little voice inside my head say----”hi dad-- you are here to visit me...you must be so happy now flying around free....” Then I smiled and I didn't think much about it again until the next time he showed up. I remember thinking how much my dad used to love to feed the birds when he lived here with us...he used to make me laugh when he would fill the bird feeder and watch the birds come and say they are getting so chubby...look it's the same birds everyday, look how chubby they're getting!

I never knew there was a history or any meaning of red cardinals and that other people had Red Cardinal experiences too! I never knew “a cardinal is symbolic of a loved one who has passed on and come to visit” but I did know when that bird showed up it was somehow my dad communicating to me with its presence... Wow--- I never knew...maybe next time if I open the front door he'll come in and stay awhile longer... heart emoticon
